Jaskaran Singh Aujla ( KARAN AUJLA) who was born on 18 January 1997, is an Indian singer, rapper, and songwriter living in Canada. He is mainly connected with Punjabi music. He has gained recognition for many songs that appeared on the UK Asian Chart published by the Official Charts Company, while seven of his tracks also made it to the Global YouTube music chart. His first album, Bacthafucup, reached number 20 on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart and number 34 on the New Zealand Albums chart. Because of this success, Spotify named him the Largest Digital Artist of 2021 and also included him among the Most Popular Artists in the Punjabi music industry.

KARAN AUJLA began his career as a songwriter and first wrote for Jassi Gill’s song “Range” from the album Replay. After that, he continued writing songs for several other artists, including Deep Jandu and Elly Mangat. In 2016, he officially entered as a lead artist with his debut song “Property of Punjab”, and he also started appearing as a guest artist in different songs. He started getting attention through tracks such as “Yaarian Ch Fikk,” “Unity,” “Alcohol 2,” and “Lafaafe.” Later, in 2018, he reached mainstream fame with “Don’t Worry,” which became his first song to enter the UK Asian Chart. In 2020, his singles “Jhanjar,” “Red Eyes,” and “Kya Baat Aa” all reached the top 10 of the chart, while “So Far” entered the top 5.

Jaskaran Singh Aujla was born on 18 January 1997 in Ghurala village, located in the Ludhiana district of Punjab, India. His parents were Balwinder Singh Aujla and Rajinder Kaur. He faced major personal losses at a young age, as his father passed away in a bike accident when he was 9 years old, and his mother died of cancer when he was 14. After that, he was brought up by his sisters and his uncle.

When he was studying in the 9th standard, Aujla met Jassi Gill at a wedding function and gave him the lyrics of the song “Range.” Gill later sang the song, and it became popular in the local area. In 2014, KARAN AUJLA moved to Canada, where he stayed with his sister in Vancouver, British Columbia. He later studied at Burnaby South Secondary School in Burnaby. During his time there, he also worked part-time as a longshoreman in Surrey.

Career (2014–2017: Early career)

KARAN AUJLA‘S  first song, “Cell Phone,” featuring Mac Benipal, was released in 2014. However, it did not perform well commercially and received only a few thousand views. After that, he began attending studio sessions in Toronto, Ontario, with Deep Jandu and Elly Mangat. During this period, he started building his career as a songwriter and wrote songs for several artists, including Jassi Gill, Elly Mangat, Gagan Kokri, Jazzy B, Bohemia, and Sukh-E. Among his early writing credits, “Blessings of Bapu,” sung by Gagan Kokri, was especially appreciated by listeners.

Later, in 2016, he made his debut as a lead artist with the song “Property of Punjab.” Around the same time, he also started appearing as a featured artist and performing rap verses in songs. Soon afterward, he continued releasing tracks as a lead singer. Some of his notable recordings from that phase include “Alcohol 2,” “Yaarian Ch Fikk,” “Shit Talk,” “Up & Down,” and “Lafaafe.”

2018–2019: Rise to fame

KARAN AUJLA got his major breakthrough with the song “Don’t Worry,” which featured Gurlez Akhtar. The music video of the track crossed more than a hundred million views on YouTube, and it also became his first song to enter the UK Asian Music Chart.

After that, he continued his success with songs like “Rim vs Jhanjhar,” “Na Na Na,” and “No Need.” Among these, “Rim vs Jhanjhar” was selected for Apple Music’s 2010s Punjabi Essentials playlist. His track “Don’t Look” stayed on the Asian Music Chart for more than twenty-four weeks and was also featured in the 2019 Apple Music India charts. In addition, songs such as “Don’t Worry,” “Hair,” “2AM,” and “Hint” were also ranked on the chart.

In July 2019, Aujla released the title track for the film Sikander 2. His song “Hint” remained trending on YouTube in India for more than five days and also achieved positions on several charts. It debuted at number 13 on the Asian Music Chart and was also ranked 75 globally27 in India9 in Canada14 in Australia, and 5 in New Zealand on YouTube charts. In December 2019, KARAN AUJLA became the most-listened artist in Punjab, India, on YouTube.

His next song, “Chitta Kurta,” also performed strongly and reached number 35 on the Global YouTube Chart and number 9 on the Indian YouTube Chart. In 2019, Spotify included Aujla in its list of the most popular artists in Punjab. During the same year, he was also nominated in the Best Singer – Punjabi category at the Gaana User’s Choice Icons Award.

2020–present: Established artist

In January 2020, the music video for KARAN AUJLA’s song “Jhanjar” crossed five million views within 24 hours on YouTube and reached the top of the trending lists in Australia, Canada, and India. The track debuted at number 26 on the Global YouTube Music chart and number 8 on the India YouTube Music chart. It also secured a place in the top 10 of the UK Asian Music Chart. His following release, “Red Eyes,” peaked at number 8 on the UK Asian chart and also appeared on other YouTube charts.

In March 2020, an unofficial mixtape titled Geetan Di Machine was uploaded to different music platforms. It contained Aujla’s unreleased and leaked songs, although the project was later removed. The next month, in April 2020, his song “Sheikh” and its music video were leaked. Only a few hours after the leak, Aujla announced the official release of both the original audio and the video. In May 2020, four of his singles — “Red Eyes,” “Sheikh,” “Chitta Kurta,” and “Jhanjar” — appeared on the UK Asian chart at the same time. During that same month, he said in an Instagram Live session that he was working on his debut album.

In June 2020, his song “Let ’em Play” reached number 14 on the Apple Music chart and debuted at number 15 on the UK Asian chart. The following month, in July 2020“So Far” became his first song to enter the top 5 of the UK Asian chart.

His track “Haan Haige Aa” received around eleven million views in 24 hours. In the same month, the song “G.O.A.T.”, which he wrote for Diljit Dosanjh’s album of the same name, was released and turned into a major commercial success. The song debuted at number 13 on the New Zealand Hot Singles chart by Recorded Music NZ and topped the UK AsianUK Punjabi, and Top Triller Global charts published by Billboard. It also became Aujla’s first song to appear on an official New Zealand chart and a Billboard chart. In addition, it debuted at number one on the Apple Music chart in India.

In August 2020, Aujla released “Kya Baat Aa,” whose music video featured Tania, without any prior announcement. The song later reached number one on Spotify’s chart in India. His next track, “Adhiya,” was released on YouTube in October 2020. Then on 10 November 2020, his song “Chithiyan” was launched through Speed Records and collected 32 million views within two weeks of its release. In December 2020, he collaborated with Bohemia, The Game, and J. Hind on the single “Ek Din.”

On 4 February 2021, he released the single “Hukam” on YouTube through Rehaan Records. Later, on 23 April 2021, he collaborated with Dilpreet Dhillon for the fifth time on Dhillon’s song “Jatt Te Jawani.”

Later in 2021, Aujla announced his debut album Bacthafucup (B.T.F.U.), which was produced by Tru Skool. In June, he released “Intro,” and in the following month he put out “Chu Gon Do,” the album’s first single. The full album was released on 15 September 2021. After release, it entered the Trending chart and peaked on several major charts across Apple Music, iTunes, and Spotify.

On 16 September 2021, Aujla became India’s Biggest Digital Artist, with a world ranking of 38. His debut album also charted at number 6 on Spotify’s Global Debut Album chart and number 19 on the Billboard Canadian Album chart.

In January 2022, he released “YKWIM,” a collaboration with rapper KR$NA, and at the end of the song he announced his debut EP Way Ahead, which was released in May. This was followed by his EP Four You in the next year and Four Me in 2024.

In 2023, he released his second studio album, Making Memories, which debuted at number 5 on the Billboard Canadian Album chart. The album included a set of contemporary Punjabi-pop songs built around summery themes and blended traditional folk influences with modern synth and guitar-based arrangements. It received widespread praise for its production, memorable hooks, and Aujla’s songwriting. Because of this response, an acoustic reworking of three songs from the album, titled Making Memories (Unplugged), was released in January 2024.

In February 2024, he teamed up with Mumbai rapper Divine for the album Street Dreams, which combined harder hip-hop sounds with smooth R&B-pop elements. The project debuted at number 22 on the Billboard Canadian Album chart.

In 2025, KARAN AUJLA announced his third studio album, P-Pop Culture, during his concert in Montreal, Canada, on 26 July. After that, a teaser was released on YouTube ahead of the launch of the album’s lead single, “MF Gabhru,” which came out on 1 August. The album itself was released as a double album on 22 August 2025, featuring five tracks on the first disc and six tracks on the second disc.

KARAN AUJLA Personal life

In 2019, KARAN AUJLA got a tattoo of his mother’s face on his right arm. He also has a tattoo of his father on the same arm. Later, in March 2020, he added tattoos of Indian freedom fighters Bhagat Singh and Udham Singh on his left arm.

In 2023, Aujla married his long-time girlfriend, Palak.

He also holds a Canadian Permanent Residency Card.

Aujla has also shared that he would like to collaborate with rappers 50 Cent and Drake.
